Industrial thermophiles.
Trained for your kitchen.
We didn't use magic. We selected naturally occurring, heat-tolerant aerobic cultures used in composting—and adapted them for the realities of cooked food.
Why it handles messy real food
Smart Thermal Range
Kobold stays active across the operating range GEME maintains. Heat-tolerant aerobes keep digestion stable.
High Salinity Tolerance
Selected to stay stable with cooked food variability—salt, oil, and mixed leftovers.
Adaptive Community
A compost community shifts its balance based on what you feed—supporting stability over time.
Kobold + GEME = A Controlled Alliance
Kobold brings:
- ●Composting microbiota selected for aerobic digestion
- ●Heat-tolerant resilience
- ●Fast recovery after "input shocks"
GEME brings:
- ●Airflow to keep it aerobic
- ●Gentle, variable tumbling (keeps surfaces exposed)
- ●Dynamic control (range optimized for biology)
How you use Kobold
Simple steps. No daily dosing required.
Optional. Use only if you want faster recovery after harvest.
Add scraps
Boost when you want speed
Just keep adding scraps
Do I need to add Kobold regularly?
Daily use: No.
Kobold is built for hands-off composting.
Daily dosing is not required.
Kobold forms a self-sustaining microbial ecosystem that remains active as long as food waste is added. No routine care.
Want faster breakdown?
After your first compost removal, you can add one 20g Boost Pack every 2 weeks.
Optional, not required.
Designed for users who want maximum speed, not maintenance.
Noticing a real slowdown after long-term use or improper composting?
If composting performance drops significantly and persistently due to extended use or composting mistakes:
Use 1 × Starter Reset.
Rebuilds the microbial ecosystem from a clean baseline.
Intended for rare recovery scenarios only.
Not part of routine use or performance tuning.
What it's built for—and what it's not
"Stating boundaries is part of honest engineering—and it protects your results."
Commonly Works Well
- Fruit & veg scraps
- Plate leftovers (including sauces & normal cooking oil)
- Coffee grounds, tea, eggshells (in moderation)
"If you can eat it, GEME probably loves it too."With boundaries—see the right side.
Rule of thumb: If it pours, drain it first.
Hard Input Limitations
- Large dense bones (structure too dense)
- Oyster / clam shells (mineral hardness)
- Large amounts of free liquids (drain first — if it pours, it's too much)
Real-world notes
- Designed for plate scraps — not for dumping fryer oil or brine.
- Tip: Drain excess oil and salty liquids before adding.
